Striker James Beattie may miss out for Stoke City, while Wigan Athletic have doubts over the fitness of goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.
Kirkland suffered a recurrence of his back problem and is set to be replaced by the veteran Mike Pollitt between the sticks.
With midfielder Hendry Thomas suspended, Jordi Gomez will start for Roberto Martinez’ Wigan side.
