Gallas Should Sue Chelsea

This one's a bit of a shocker, to be honest.

Those paragons of virtue, Chelsea FC have released a statement accusing former defender William Gallas of
threatening to score own goals if he stayed at the club.

The statement included the following: "He went on to threaten that if he was forced to play, or if he was disciplined and financially punished for his breach of the rules, that he could score an own goal or get himself sent off, or make deliberate mistakes."

Gallas himself is denying all this. Regardless of the truth of the accusations, the statement is timed to have maximum impact and shows how little regard Chelsea now have for the conventions of football.

If these accusations are not true - and my own opinion is that they may not be - then Gallas should sue Chelsea for libel. British libel laws put the onus on the accuser to prove the truth of his words and the newly signed Arsenal player would probably win.

Maybe then Chelsea will think twice about their high handed arrogant approach to players, referees, the laws of the game and so on.

i agree that the club could have been a little more discreet, but what you have to understand that there are no stars at our club. the players are all treated the same whether they are £30-odd million pound players or reserve team players, and quite simply gallas acted like an ar5e !
he spat the dummy because he was asked to attend the pre-season games with the rest of the players. he refused, so was punished by being left on the bench etc
If you remember the slanging match was started by gallas informing everyone that arsenal have the 'real' fans and that chelsea were 'hollow and unsupportive'.
i can't help but feel that if he had transferred from say wigan to arsenal, there wouldn't be all this negative who-ha in the papers by journalist who love to knock anyone down that is successful.
as a lifelong chelsea fan, i feel that we have had our fill of crap chelsea teams, we're fed up with not winning anything and personally I'm enjoying every moment of singing championes, championes, ole ole ole. At every possible opportunity.
all this fist pumping, singing, celebratory antics have been a long time coming, and long may they last...
