Leroy Lita Injured 'Stretching In Bed'

It's always a joy to hear the unlikely stories that footballers use to explain their injuries.

And, so, it is with great pleasure that I offer you this season's first and probably best 'unlikely cause of injury' story.

Reading striker Leroy Lita has been injured after damaging a leg muscle as he stretched in bed after waking up.

Apparently, the player may miss 3-4 weeks at the start of the new Premiership season. His manager, Steve Coppell, commented :

"He woke up and stretched while in bed and he has done something to his leg."

"It is not an injury that should be ridiculed or made light of. It looks to be a problem with a nerve. Maybe he has displaced one, but he could hardly walk on Monday and had to sit out training."

Of course, we here at PremiershipToday.Blogspot.com believe every single word of it. And we wouldn't for a single minute suggest that Senor Lita may have injured himself through some other kind of bedroom athletics. Not for a minute. We wouldn't be so cynical.

Um, get well soon, Leroy.

Hossam Ghaly For Sale On Ebay

Someone has done the decent thing and put Spurs midfielder Hossam Ghaly up for sale on Ebay.

If you 'buy it now', you'll get a Mido thrown in for free. A bargain, I think. Currently bidding stands at £2.1million, so there's still a chance to buy him fairly cheap.

However, potential bidders should be aware that "This item was returned after only a few days use by the preivious bidder, they said it wouldn't run. New boots may also be required as he is too big for his own."

Classic !

No Running = No Deal For Ghaly

From the 'totally-unsubstantiated-probably-not-true- at-all' file comes this rumour about the collapse of Spurs midfielder Hossam Ghaly's move to Birmingham City :

Apparently, Ghaly was training with his soon-to-be new team mates and refused to run during an endurance session, saying "We don't do running at Tottenham".

Steve Bruce allegedly replied (and this is priceless) "Don't you mean Tottenham reserves?".

The upshot of all this is that Bruce didn't like Ghaly's attitude and backed out of the deal.

All good stuff and we need more completely unsubstantiated rumours on this Premiership football blog.
